Eight years ago, in a small office in Zagreb, Tomo and I founded Syntio with a simple but ambitious goal: to become Europe’s leading data engineering company. We were lead by a deep belief that data, if done right, could transform how businesses think, operate, and grow.
What started as a team of a few passionate engineers quickly became something much bigger. Today, Syntio is nearly 90 people strong. We’ve had the privilege of partnering with some of the most iconic companies in Europe, like IKEA, H&M, Volvo, Abbott and AstraZeneca.
Now, we’re stepping into the next chapter in our story.
I’m proud to share that Syntio is joining forces with Datatonic, a ten-time Google Cloud Partner of the Year and a leading partner in ML, Generative AI, and Agentic AI. Together, we’ll become the Datatonic Group, an organization built to deliver world-class, end-to-end AI and data solutions at scale.
This is a strategic step forward. It’s a meeting of vision, values, and ambitions.

We’ll also be launching a new Machine Learning Department in Croatia, focused on local R&D, partnerships with universities, and practical learning paths for our growing engineering talent. And yes, we’re hiring. We plan to welcome at least 20 new engineers in 2025, with more to come.
Looking back and forward
For me and the other co-founder Tomo, this moment is incredibly meaningful. We’re not stepping away – we’re stepping up. We’ll continue to lead Syntio with the same entrepreneurial drive that got us here, and the same belief that excellence is built on curiosity, hard work, and trust.
